We stayed at Mare Blu with several friends and do not think it could have been more perfect. The villa is a short distance to town where we found great places to eat and to shop. The ocean views are spectacular from all the rooms and the outside living area. The kitchen is very special with every convenience imaginable. There are many special decorative details throughout the complex that are tastefully done to capture a modern yet tropical theme. The pool is definitely special and really like the no chlorine water. PERFECT FAMILY VACATION AT MARE BLU ON ST. JOHN Our family of ten, age six months to sixtyish, enjoyed a perfect week on S. John at beautiful Mare Blu! This our first visit with the whole family since the hurricanes. It was gratifying to see that nature prevails as does the spirit of the people of St. John.We spent perfect days at Hawksnest, Francis, Trunk and our favorite Maho Bay with its turtles! We also added a new beach to our list, Hanson. Dinners at Morgan's Mango and lunches at The Tap Room and Skinny Legs were fun and delicious. Everyone LOVED Mare Blu! The villa is beautifully designed: elegant with attention to every detail yet comfortable and accommodating. There are specious living areas, indoors and out, lovely bedrooms, some with screened verandas and outdoor showers, all with splendid views looking out toward St. Croix. The well equipped kitchen and outdoor dining area were great for our breakfasts and some dinners. The swimming pool was wonderful for the children in the late afternoons and illuminated our evenings sometimes inviting late night swims. The location of the villa was private and quiet yet a convenient drive to Cruz Bay and the beaches. Friends and I spent my 40th Birthday week celebration at Mare Blu and it was more than I ever expected!! St. John is my favorite Caribbean spot and this house tops all other stays in the past(villas, Caneel Bay, locations on St. Thomas). It was a shame that we did not have more people (we had 6) because we wanted to share the experience with the rest of our friends! The house is amazing with every amenity(we couldn't think of anything we were missing). A fabulous view and convenient to town. We fell in love with Mare Blu and will definitely be back!! Mare Blu proved to be the perfect home for our family to celebrate Thanksgiving 2015. We have visited St. John before, and this trip was by far the most memorable and luxurious. The villa was close enough to town but far enough to provide seclusion and a gorgeous view of the bay. The villa itself was very well appointed from the kitchen to entertainment, offering everything you might need. I was able to easily prepare meals that we enjoyed around the large dining table. The second outdoor kitchen area and outdoor fridge drawers were terrific. The spacious guest suites allowed everyone to retreat to their own space if they wanted privacy or alone time. There was ample room for our family of 9 adults! The beautiful pool was also a huge hit. Teri was wonderful to work with and always answered my questions promptly. SMARTLY DESIGNED, SPACIOUS, LUXURIOUS...MARE BLU HAS IT ALL The week I recently spent with friends at the Mare Blu Villa was one of the best vacations I've ever taken. Tucked away in a private corner of Rendezveau Bay, Mare Blu is just a 10 minute drive to Cruz Bay, balancing accessibility and convenience with lavish seclusion. With six bedrooms and nearly 10,000 square feet of space, the resort comfortably accommodated our group of seven guests. I found the villa to have everything we needed, and we even elected to spend a couple days of our 8-day trip hanging out at Mare Blu instead of goin to one of the many neighboring beaches. Among the many smartly designed areas of the villa, I found the pool area to be my favorite part of the house. With a fridge, ice machine and HDTV located in an outdoor lounge area, we had access to everything we needed just a few steps away from the pool. The bedrooms were clean, comfortable and uniquely themed with some of the rooms boasting outdoor showers. We cooked dinner several nights in the kitchen, which had modern top-of-the line appliances and a cozy outdoor dining area. What can someone say who just had one of the greatest vacations of their entire life, besides "Thank You" from the bottom of my heart. My work life and career are incredibly exhausting. Being in the broadcast television business, there are no "off-days". Every single event we do is a moment in time that cannot be pushed back, extended or redone. The pressure, at times, can be overwhelming. Vacation for me has traditionally involved my family enjoying themselves with pool time, activities and relaxation. I spent the majority of my time on the phone, computer or conference calls. Not this trip. From the moment I walked down the stairs to your beautiful home, I felt every ounce of tension leave my body. The next seven days were nothing short of transformative for me. Every part of your home, from the pool to the kitchen to the outdoor shower, allowed me to completely "forget who I was" for a little while. An amazing feat that has never-before been accomplished! Justin was, well, amazing. His smile and welcoming presence on the dock to his patient and kind mannerisms to his outstanding recommendations of restaurants and boat captains was without parallel. He was an unexpected, albeit, welcomed part of the "Mare Blu Experience". It is not too often that I can say I was amazed by anything I've encountered. In my life, I have been at major sporting events, world renowned rock concerts and participated in things that most people only dream of. I find most other things in the world around me to be fairly mundane. My week at Mare Blu was amazing. While I am sure there are other houses in St. Johns that may have more bedrooms, bigger pools or finer artwork, I am confident in saying that none could have a more "spirited soul" than Mare Blu. As I sit here and contemplate heading to California, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Atlanta over the next several weeks, it is the thought that I will be returning to St. John and Mare Blu in the future that brings a smile to my face and warm feeling to my heart. I cannot think of one thing I would change about Mare Blu, not only does it live up to the pictures on the website but it's even more spectacular in person. When I first arrived it literally took my breathe away. The layout of the house is perfect for a group of people; the bedrooms are all equal each with spectacular views. The owners have done a sumptuous job of equipping the house, every time I wanted something it was at my fingertips. We spent all of our time in the beautiful outdoor living area, it was spacious enough for everyone to gather and enjoy each other's company and still feel as one group. Teri Ackerman, the owner of Mare Blu, is the best. She is extremely competent and easy to work with. Her understanding of families and how memories are made are reflected in the design of her villa. The kitchen, grilling area, dining area and gathering space all followed together as one beautiful family area which then seamlessly flowed to the deck and pool (what a great pool). I would be grilling and having a conversation with my wife Debby in the kitchen, turn and talk to my daughter at the dining room table as she showed me photos from the days dive, turn just a little more and watch my grandson in the pool. It does not get any better than that. Yet Teri created a place of sanctuary in each bedroom. They are spacious and almost mini suites as there is setting areas in each bedroom. Teri left no stone unturned in equipping the villa with top of the line appliances. Her ice maker keep ahead of 12 people. Enough dishes, glasses etc. to meet the needs of a group of 20 or more. PERFECT LOCATION FOR TWO FAMILIES OR MULTIPLE COUPLES! We stayed here the week of July 4th. We could not have been happier.The house has everything: infinity pool, tv's everywhere (although we rarely used them, we would rather look out at the ocean), fully appointed kitchen, including ice maker, multiple stoves and dishwashers. Anything you would need was there, pool floats, beach chairs, coolers. This is the house you would build if you had the money, nothing was overlooked. Read More...
